This is an original, small, drawing of a view across Cheyenne Bottoms, Kansas from NE Road 60. A place of wide vistas with yellows, greens, and rusty reds below a blue sky. It was created in 20°F weather while sitting in the cab of a pickup truck. I used Blick Art pastel chalks and Prismacolor pencils, then sealed with Polycrylic.

MORE ABOUT THE ARTWORK:
With 41,000 acres of wetlands, Cheyenne Bottoms near Great Bend, Kansas is the largest inland march in the United States.
In the winter there are eagles and other species, with a larger bird population during mild winters. In the spring, over a half million ducks & geese, and thousands of other birds like sandhill and whooping cranes, pass through the bottoms.
My husband loves hunting pheasant and duck here.
