Every Inch in Blood

This large, quilted work was inspired by President Zelensky's speech to the U.S. congress. He stated that, "Every inch of my country is covered in blood." 

War is violent and messy. When you invade another country, or attack civilians at a concert, or crash airplanes into buildings, or pull the trigger then innocent lives will be lost. What other outcome can there be? 

I began exploring the fabric yo-yos (Suffolk Puff) as an art form in 2018. Traditionally used as a quilting technique, I appropriate the yo-yo as a module for building fine art pieces. Compositionally I prefer to break away from the traditional rectangular format and allow my quilts to spread across the wall and sometimes spill to the floor.
